Transforming your Health & Happiness: START TODAY!

Yin vs Yang ↓

As we transition from the dormancy of winter into the bright, warm welcoming freshness of spring, it is encouraging to take note of the new waves of energy upon us; brilliantly designed to slowly and gently ease us into the long, heated days of summer. According to the ancient wisdom of Taoist principles, this is a perfect example of how the lifecycle of Winter Yin transforms into Summer Yang.

Winter YIN ~ Summer YANG

Keep in mind, it is nature’s way to maintain a delicate balance. With this transition comes new opportunities for growth and change. How exciting!! The snow has melted, trees are budding and plants are beginning to bloom. Days are becoming warmer and longer as

animals awaken from their winter sleep, migrate home, and begin again to nourish themselves with the new fresh, spring growth of green plants and seeds. Most of us are living as a part of an advanced society in a modern world, the subtleties of nature and her ever-changing transformations of universal energy are often taken for granted. We may begin to come out of hibernation too. But, do we take full advantage of this seasonal change?? Or do we simply go with the flow, shed layers, work longer days and weekends because it’s a little more comfortable outside and the yard needs tending to.

It is cultural for people to start thinking about the changes they would like to make in their life during the start of the New Year. Although it is a pivotal point, the New Year does not occur during a time when yang energy is abundantly building; therefore, creating new habits and changes can become an exhausting challenge because we are still in a state of rest. It is easier to make changes when they also happen in the natural environment, as Mother Earth releases its own energy stored from the winter to facilitate the transformation into spring. During this time, we have an ideal opportunity to develop healthy habits in order to create new possibilities in our lives. The universe is abundant and provides abundance for you, too!

The ancient masters created cultivation energy practices and meditations in order to harness universal energy, taking advantage of energy fluctuations in nature. We can do so as well by creating a few healthy habits and incorporating them into your daily practice:

  • Comfortably sit or stand facing the sun in the morning and evening when the sun is rising and setting. Breathe in the warmth and light into your whole body; connect your feet to the Earth, and acknowledge the power and impact the sun has in your life. You can do this with the moon as well. Especially with a full moon! This gentle breathing exercise will help set your circadian rhythms and will cultivate etherical energy from the environment into your body.

  • Go for gentle walks as often as you can. This will help you slow down and connect to the bountiful nature around you while gently awakening you from the winter slumber. And we can all use a boost after a long winter.....

Eat Fresh Fruits & Vegetables Seasonally!
  • Eat seasonally ~ YUM! Mother Earth provides all living things with the nutrients required to strengthen us and prepare us for the warmer months ahead. The nourishment that was intended for you will help build up your body’s immune system for the pollination cycles taking place that cause allergic reactions and summer pathogens causing summer illnesses. Eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as you can that are in season:

  • Asparagus, Garlic, Green Onion, Herbs, Kale, Leeks, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Parsnips, Peas, Radishes, Rhubarb, Snow Peas, Spinach, Sprouts, Sugar Snap Peas, and Swiss Chard.

  • Lastly, if you feel your body, mind, and spirit could benefit from a little extra support while undergoing these transitions, consider trying our needleless Laser Acupuncture Treatments.
